Week of 3/18/24-3/22/24 Media Prep for Biochemical Tests
Introduction Prior to performing biochemical tests on Xinjiangensis, E.coli, Epidermis, and Citroraptor we made SIM media, R2B, and TGY. The biochemical tests involved included indole, starch, sulfur, motility, and urease. I was in charge of the amylase test in order to determine if Xinjiangensis utilizes starch for energy. As for the purpose of the indole test it was prepared to determine if Xinjiangensis can split tryptophan into pyruvate and indole end products. The motility test was used to determine whether or not the bacterium can spread/move. The indole test's purpose was to determine if Xinjiangensis is coded for the tryptophen protein which is found in most proteins. Once more, the sulfur test in regards to Xinjiangensis was used to characterize whether or not the bacterium can reduce sulfur into hydrogen sulfide. Finally, the urease test was used to characterize if Xinjiangensis harbored the enzyme necessary to break down urease into ammonia and carbon dioxide....
